Setting up a Cross Site Failover environment

Hello,

The company I work for is setting up a DR site for our Exchange 2010 environment and have some questions on how things work in regards to a Cross Site failover.

At our production site we have 2 mailbox servers both are members of a DAG, and 2 CAS\Hub servers.  We have a CAS Array configuredat our production site with both CAS servers and we are using Windows Network Load Balancing.

At our DR site we will only have 1 Mailbox server and 1 CAS\Hub server.

Our plan is to add the DR mailbox server to the DAG and replicate the production databases to the DR site.  We will not host any production databases on the DR mailbox server.  The DR server will only have passive copies and only be used in a Disaster (production site is unavailable). Please confirm if that is possible to do.

Now for the DR CAS\Hub server I am a little confused on how to setup the Client Access SErver for cross site failover.  I am not sure if I need to create a new CAS Array with only 1 server in it for the DR site or can I use the existing prodcution CASArray and just add the DR CAS server as a member.

If we do need to create a new CAS Array, is it possible to only have 1 Client Access SErver as part of the Array or is it required to have more than 1? Also if you are able to have 1 server in a CAS Array, then is it even required to configure NLB and what address do I use for the CAS Array?

Thank you,

Kristine Marcellus
