Some controls aren't valid - Changes in the user/group........

We migrated from Exchange 2003 to 2010 several months ago. I've had a couple of reports from some people not being able to modify delegate permissions. So from some investigation into mailbox accounts I am receiing the above error whenever I add, then manage 'Full Mailbox Permissions'.

Having searched on here I've noted and performed the followijg actions

The error 'Some controls aren't valid - Changes in the user/group........' happens for either migtated or new accounts.

I have checked the alias for spaces

Rebooted the Exchange Server

None of the above has stopped the error so does anyone have anty further idea?

Thanks

Shared mailbox conversation view; on behalf sent items

$

Update rollup 4 for SP2 introduced the possibility to have a sent item stored in the shared mailbox on behalf of who you sent it.

Now this works ok, sent items in fact are saved in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox.

But if you put that shared mailbox inbox in conversation view, the sent items are not shown in the conversations. This makes it hard to follow a conversation (as it was before).

Is this a known issue ? By design ? Existing workaround ?

Disable Encryted MAPI traffic

Hello,

We have outlook 2010 users experiencing performance issues during the loading of outlook. Given that outlook <---> CAS  traffic is encrypted and To troubleshoot this issue we have been asked to disable encrypted MAPI traffic temporarily so we can run netmon or another third party network capture tool to see better understand what outlook is doing during the load. I unchecked encryption option on outlook client and ran the below command on the CAS server then rest RPC service yet I still can't read the captured data. Are the steps taken here enough to disable encryption or am I missing something else?

Set-RpcClientAccess –Server <CASservername> –EncryptionRequired $false

Greetings,

Could you please tell how to audit the following in Exchange 2010:

1. Who grant full access for a user on a specific mailbox.

2. Who create, delete, change the membership of a distribution group.

3. who enable or disable a user mailbox.

Thanks in advance.

Exchange2010 SP3 RU4, database in a DAG setup fail error 3145

We are an Exchange sp3 ru4 running on a hybrid Physical(MB servers) virtual (CAS/HUB servers) with 6 DBs' inonw DAG in a single site with local witness server.

We experienced a failure on one of the DBs wit an error 3145 "

Incremental seeding of database xxx\MB01 encountered an error. A
full reseed is required. Error: The Microsoft Exchange Replication service failed
to determine if the log files in database 'xxx' are divergent from
the source copy on server 'xxx.xxx.local'. Error: There is not enough

space on the disk."

There is no issue with the disk space for the databases or logs or local drives for either MB servers!

I have initiated a suspend and fail for the DB in discussion and initiated a manual seed from the good (only) copy.

I want to know though, which disk is detected here with not enough space? could it be that MSExchangeRepl service couldn't get the disk usage report from AD in due time and decided to fail the copy and activate the other?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

"Your organization's policy does not allow you to share with this recipient." When trying to share calendar within our Org

Hi,

Wondering if this is a bug - we have serveral different accepted domains, and our users within our org might have different primary SMTP domains - some @nwtraders.com and some @contoso.com - as examples.

We had a user today report an issue where they were trying to use the 'share calendar' button in Outlook 2010 and then typed in the SMTP address of someone in our org in the field of whom to share with, but that address had a different SMTP domain than the user's (but still in our org).  When she tried to send the sharing request she received a popup stating:

Calendar sharing is not available with the following entries because of permission settings on your network:

<intended smtp address>: Your organization's policy does not allow you to share with this recipient.

I thought it might be related to freeform typing in the address - if I hand type out the address with a valid SMTP address within the same SMTP domain, and press send it works.

If I use the address picker, and pick the intended sharing recipient (who's has an SMTP domain that is different that the senders), it works fine. It only seems to have an issue when you manually type out the address and it's not in the same SMTP domain as you....
Could this 'problem' be masked with setting up Sharing policy between all of our authoritative domains?

Thanks

Unhide Telephone Numbers in Exchange 2010

There are a couple of posts related to this question but I don't see an answer to this specific question:  When using the Get-ActiveSyncDevice command, the "Device Telephone Number" is partially masked - ie. ******1234.  Is there a way to "unmask" the phone number, or output a list of all devices with user and phone numbers unmasked?

Cross Forest Distribution Groups

Does anyone have any experience of using crossforest distribution groups?

I have created a distribution group and added members from the local domain (Domain1) and also cross-forest mail contacts from Domain2.

If i send to this group from Domain1, all is fine. If a user from Domain2 sends to this group, the message is processed as Poison.

Any ideas?

The group is a universal distribution group.
Any user can email cross forest from either domain with no issues.

PF removal

I used AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 to add PF replica to my new MBX servers.

Now i'm ready to remove PF on my legacy box (Ex2010).

Can i use .\RemoveReplicaFromPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder \ -ServerToRemove legacyserver to remove public folder replica from my system and than delete the public folder DB?

Delegated Setup Role Group Missing :S

Hi,

I'm trying to add another server to an Exchange Organization but the setup is failing. I've narrowed it down to the fact that the 'Delegated Setup' role group isn't missing, as if someone has deleted it, see attached.

The operation couldn't be performed because object '261928d1-f5d1-445b-866d-1d6b5bd87a09' couldn't be found on 'dc1'
From another Exchange Environment I figured out that object '261928d1-f5d1-445b-866d-1d6b5bd87a09' is the 'Delegated Setup' role group.

Is there a way I can re-create this group in it's original state? I know I can do it manually but it would need to match the above object ID, as the setup doesn't search by name.

Keep in mind this is a production environment.

Thanks for any help.

Exchange 2010 Conference Room Resource mailbox. Additional text field HTML images

In the same vein as this question:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/338b4fff-e8df-41aa-8066-a32a9f76fa92/exchange-2010-conference-room-resource-mailbox-additional-text-field

Have successfully created Additional text messages that actually work with a surprising amount of HTML in it (Tables, link colours, hyperlinks etc...)

The one thing we can't seem to crack is the ability to show images, is this possible?

(have tried the usual suspects of:

img src="x.jpg"

also tried making sure the img tag was self closing, no luck

td background="x.jpg"

td background (css property)

but no joy and ran out of ideas, any help out there?

Many thanks in advance!

folders count for 25,000 mailboxes?

$

Hello,

I am trying to get the folders count for each mailbox of our environment:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>$mbx|select Displayname,@{n="FolderIdCount";e={(get-mailboxfolderstatistics -id $_.Identity | s
elect FolderId).count}} | Sort-Object -Property Displayname | export-csv o:\mailbox-folders.csv

this command works fine with mailbox name and folders count but limited to 1,000 mailboxes.

when trying for the full environment 25,000 i tried:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited|select Displayname,@{n="FolderIdCount";e={(get-mailboxfolders
tatistics -id $_.Identity | select FolderId).count}} | Sort-Object -Property Displayname | export-csv o:\mailbox-folders
1.csv

the result misses the folders count, the title for the column is displayed but there is no value...

Thanks,

Dom

Run VBA script with OWA

Can I do something like this website is suggesting, to create a VBA script but using OWA not Outlook?

http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/rules/create-task-email-rule/

If not from OWA, can this be done from Exchange management console and applied to certain mailboxes?

Is there any other way to have tasks auto created if users are only using OWA, not outlook?

Thanks,

Allow OWA users to view other users Tasks only, but not messages

$

Is there a way to allow permission for other users to only view another users tasks, but not his messages?

Right now using the link https://servername/owa/email@address.com/?cmd=contents&module=Tasks other users can view the task of the user they want by replacing the email@address.com with the user they want to see the tasks of.

The only way to allow permission to do this is by allowing full read access for that users account.

I'm hoping to lock it down so they can view JUST the users tasks, but not email messages.

Forward task between OWA users. Functionality questions

$

I'm testing with OWA users requests to share and assign tasks amongst each other.

I've found that you are able to forward a task to another OWA user, and if they open the task they are able to save it an it will add to their task list.

Now the task is on both the original users task list and user who got the email.  Is there any correlation to the tasks?  Are both now able to update the task and have it updated for both users, or are there now just 2 independent tasks?

Thanks,

Need advise on namespace and cert issue

$

I have an issue were my company AD domain is a .com that we do not own the domain name for.

Right now it's setup as such:

- AD domain: domain.com (also the forest is domain.com)

- single exchange 2010 server running Mailbox, Hub and CAS: mail2010.domain.com

- internal URL: mail2010.domain.com

- external URL: webmail.DomainWeCouldBuy.com

The problem is that this setup I can't get the internal url on a public cert, and which means I can't use a public cert on the CAs server serving domain computers. (I triied to change the internal url to match external but ... everything broke)

I have thought about it and I think I have a workable plan:

1) Add a 2nd exchange 2010 server to the exchange forest with the CAS role on it, call it mail2010b.domain.com

2) setup a public cert with webmail.DomainWeCouldBuy.com on exchange CAS services

3) forward external requests to mail2010b.

Please let me know if this will work, current alternative plan involves building time machine and going back to 80's and buying domain.com.
